Description |
Pandan, or Pandan Leaves, is tropical shrub or small tree whose leaves are used, fresh or dried, as a flavoring in South Asian and Southeast Asian cuisine. The plant has an upright growth habit with narrow, blade-like leaves that fan outwards. Pandan is sterile and propagated through cuttings. It can be used as a cheap substitute for basmati rice fragrance, and the leaves can be woven into a basket for cooking rice. Pandan is not frost-tolerant, but can be grown in containers in cooler regions.
