Description African Marigold, or Mexican Marigold, is a species of marigold that is native to Mexico. It is taller and more upright than the French Marigold. It's large yellow and orange flowers can measure up to 13cm in diameter. Although it is in the Daisy (Asteraceae) family with Calendula or Pot Marigold, the two plants are in separate genera. African Marigolds attract beneficial pollinators and their strong scent can deter and confuse pests. Some varieties are edible. Florets can be used as food coloring and dye.
